Featuring 30 life-sized caribou and an immersive soundscape of stories and experiences\, the installation invites visitors to walk among the herd. Voices of Elders\, sounds of the land\, and the presence of these sculptural caribou connect our shared circumpolar landscapes through art\, memory\, and movement.

SUMMARY:Inner Space – Outer Space: The Fabric of the Universe
DESCRIPTION:Basia explores the interconnectedness between humans\, the cosmos\, and the earth on macro and micro scales through paintings\, installations\, and soundscapes. The imagery references sound and light waves\, medicinal plants\, ancestral connection\, and human figures that serve as conduits between the earth and the sky. \nArtist Bio \nBasia is an artist\, teacher\, community programmer\, advocate\, and drummer who calls Dawson City\, Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Territory\, home. She grew up in Saskatchewan and has lived in Whitehorse\, Vancouver\, and other cities and towns in the U.S.\, Brazil\, and Africa. \nShe is immersed in the north\, making art\, teaching high school\, and drumming in country bands. \nShe has been involved in the arts\, community-based work\, and advocacy for over 30 years. She has a BFA\, BEd\, Masters in Community Development\, and studio courses from Emily Carr University and SOVA.

DESCRIPTION:Children’s classes are focused on self defence Jiu Jitsu. A typical class starts with a warm up game\, stretching\, technique/ drilling\, then ends with more fun games! These classes are appropriate for kids approximately 4 – 12 years old. \nThe 4:45pm classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays are most suitable for the 4 to 7 age range. We suggest children 8 to 12 attend at 6pm when possible. The Friday kids class has an open age range. \n

Don’t miss headliner\, Julie Kim\, who will be joined by feature act Brad Semotiuk! \nJulie Kim is one of Canada’s top comedians touring today. She recently featured a 40 city run of theater shows across North America\, opening for Ronny Chieng (Crazy Rich Asians\, The Daily Show). She has performed at Just for Laughs multiple times\, and headlined four-sold-out shows at JFL Toronto in 2023.\nJulie is a staple at comedy clubs across North America and she has done every major festival in Canada. She is a regular on CBC’s the Debaters\, and in 2023\, she made her debut at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.\nIn addition to headlining comedy clubs across North America\, Julie has contributed to the writing rooms of Kim’s Convenience\, Run the Burbs\, and Still Standing. She has been part of the writing and creative consulting team at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival for the past three years. She was also a writer for Just for Laughs Montreal in 2022. Julie was a producer and writer for Simu Liu (Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) as he hosted the 2022 and 2023 Juno Awards. She ideated Liu’s now well-known ‘I am Canadian’ monologue\, which has gone viral on the Internet and social media.\nBrad Semotiuk started doing stand up comedy at 17 years old. He quickly moved up the comedy ranks\, and stared touring Canada regularly. He has performed at comedy festivals in Canada and the United States\, has an album and recorded an album with just for laughs originals. he is rich and he is awesome\, you are going to love his “whole thing”!
