SUMMARY:Inner Space – Outer Space: The Fabric of the Universe
DESCRIPTION:Basia explores the interconnectedness between humans\, the cosmos\, and the earth on macro and micro scales through paintings\, installations\, and soundscapes. The imagery references sound and light waves\, medicinal plants\, ancestral connection\, and human figures that serve as conduits between the earth and the sky. \nArtist Bio \nBasia is an artist\, teacher\, community programmer\, advocate\, and drummer who calls Dawson City\, Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Territory\, home. She grew up in Saskatchewan and has lived in Whitehorse\, Vancouver\, and other cities and towns in the U.S.\, Brazil\, and Africa. \nShe is immersed in the north\, making art\, teaching high school\, and drumming in country bands. \nShe has been involved in the arts\, community-based work\, and advocacy for over 30 years. She has a BFA\, BEd\, Masters in Community Development\, and studio courses from Emily Carr University and SOVA.

If you would like more confidence when glazing\, this two half-day workshop is for you.\nOn the first day we will throw an 8-piece set of test bowls and discuss how you can tweak the design of your forms to work with your glaze plan. You will be expected to trim your pieces on your own time and have them ready to be bisque fired in time for the next session.\nOn the second day\, we will review best practices for glazing and explore a series of glaze application methods on our bowls\, including layering\, trying out a range of different application tools\, wax resist techniques\, and more.

DESCRIPTION:Trail reports indicate marginal – but there will be increased snowmobile activity over Easter weekend that should pack the trail in and make for a much better ride in April!\nSnow Girls – Ride Bonneville Lakes Loop\nSponsored by Medicine Chest Pharmacy\nJoin Snow Girls for a 22 km fat bike ride on the epic Bonneville Lakes Loop!\nThis is more of a scenic fat bike tour than a technical ride\, with gradual ups and downs along the way. There is a small section that requires participants to hike-a-bike. The trail is packed and maintained by snowmobiles\, so it should be fairly smooth and firm if temps stay below zero. We will start at 10:00am so the trail will be as firm as possible.\n Meeting Spot: Fish Lake Parking Area (head north from downtown towards Porter Creek on the highway\, turn left on to Fish Lake Road\, follow this until you pass the Sky High Wilderness Ranch and the lake/parking is shortly after) Start Time: 10:00 AM – Let’s get rolling before the sun softens the snow! Bring water and a snack – we’ll stop to take in the views! Estimated Duration: ~3 hours
