We came for our second visit,

Our first was a decade ago,

To this time less land of the midnight sun,

We actually stayed on the marge of Lake Laberge,

Most of the time the rain seemed to hold the upper hand,

But there were thrills just the same,

The first time we stepped outside,

We thought there was an infestation of humming birds,

We realized that we were being attacked by the YUKON MOSQUITO

My brother and his wife live on Shallow Bay Road,

Even their driveway is about 70 feet from the road,

Then of course there’s 17 kilometres to Whitehorse in a straight line,

We came to see the summer solstice, Part of natures drama,

But all we got was rain, day and night,

I guess that’s what you would call KARMA!

What impressed me most was the honesty of the people,

Even the derelicts told me where to go in no uncertain terms,

There’s still hope yet for a winter trip, to this land of Sam McGee,

So we missed nature’s work of art, but maybe next time,
