Dieter Wise – Memories of the Anthropocene Album Release

May 9 @ 7:00 PM

Canadian born folk songwriter and Yukon River dweller Dieter Weise has been a recording artist since his first EP release in 2018. Now Weise emerges from the cabin again to present his first solo record Memories of the Anthropocene—nine nimble new songs that follow a fanciful and fascinating sonic and lyric migration through themes as varied as the love of cold, the alacrity of moonlit huskies, the enigma of friendship, the terrible beauty of a wasted afternoon and the acoustic quirks of plywood shacks.

Joining Weise for this evening are the album’s producer and impelling instrumentalist Jordy Walker, plus Whitehorse’s protean drummer Lonnie Powell and the inimitable David Haddock on bass. On this evening of eclectic songs you’ll hear everything from exultant melodies literally inspired by the Richardson Mountains’ thin air to funky laments on the caprices of love and the dark satire of the album’s titular song on civilization’s obsession with its own doom.

Be among the first to hear this lively set of state-of-the-art Folk Rock 2.0 tunes hot off the record press and fresh from the wilderness.
