Discover the basics of gardening tailored for northern climates with guidance from an experienced northern gardener. This course will equip you with essential skills to start growing your own food in our unique Yukon environment. You’ll explore seed selection, planting and transplanting techniques, and the fundamentals of soil management and watering.

Emphasis will be placed on strategies and tips for boosting the growth of vegetables and flowers in the Yukon’s specific climate and conditions, helping you achieve a successful and productive gardens.

Participants will spend the afternoon transplanting seedlings into a take-home “garden in a patio pot”. Participants are welcome to bring gardening gloves, pots/containers, or seedlings from Gold Show, but all materials are provided.
