It is good to have friends … especially when you are a music teacher and the band needs to raise money for repairs and new instruments.

As a Facebook friend of Brandon Isaak, and having played with him from time to time, Jon Heaton was able to line him up to play at Elijah Smith Elementary School’s Music Extravaganza on Tuesday, Nov. 10.

“He said, ‘Hey, we are up for the Blue Feather Music Festival, so I’ll bring the rest of The Twisters with me’.”

Heaton says that is how he got one of the top blues bands in the world (according to various magazines and websites) to perform in his school gymnasium.

Another Yukoner, Nicole Edwards, is in a trio with Heaton, so they will perform, too.

“I am really excited,” says Heaton. “It will be a lot of fun, a real family dance affair.”

There will be dancing, desserts, coffee and juice.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and are available at Well-Read Books and Unitech Sound and Lighting (cheque or cash, please) or by phoning Heaton at 667-5772 or 667-2606 or at the door.

Music Extravaganza is Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
