Periphery is an American progressive metal band known for their complex compositions and technical prowess. Formed in 2005, they’ve released several albums and EPs, gaining acclaim for their innovative approach to metal music. Led by guitarist Misha Mansoor, they’re influential in the “djent” movement and have a big, dedicated fanbase within the progressive metal community.

Djent Is Not A Genre was pretty much what I expected from a bunch of super-talented musicians! It’s awesome to see how they’ve influenced so many young folks to pick up instruments again. I mean, just look at their massive following—each band member and the band itself have legions of fans!

Sure, the album follows a bit of a formula, but they manage to spice things up enough to keep it from getting boring. That’s not something you see every day, no matter what kind of music you’re into.

And let’s talk about “Wax Wings.” Seriously, do yourself a favour and give it a listen. The way it was composed is just perfect; I mean, It has everything—screams, amazing vocal arrangements, an incredible virtuous solo and, of course, all the power a band made of three guitar players can have!

Sit back, relax and let the music take you on a journey. Trust me, it’s worth it.

The only reason I wouldn’t rate this album a perfect 10 is because of “Everything is Fine.” To me, it felt like a mishmash of different ideas that the band members had, lacking the cohesion found in the rest of the album.
