The Yukon River Trail Marathon (YRTM) is gearing up for another year and is currently accepting registrations for the 2026 event.

The overland race is held annually in Whitehorse and has become a favourite local tradition for runners, walkers and relay teams who love a mix of community spirit and beautiful trail scenery.
Held each August along the Yukon River trails, YRTM offers a full marathon, half marathon, marathon relay and half marathon walk, welcoming everyone from seasoned racers to first-timers looking to challenge themselves on home turf.
The organizing committee has expressed that this event has always been about community. “Opening registration earlier just gives people more time to commit, train together and build excitement for race day,” says race organizer Monika Kozlerová.
Now entering its 27th year, the Yukon River Trail Marathon continues to showcase the best of Whitehorse’s trail network—from winding single track, to scenic river views—all supported by a strong team of local volunteers.
Registration will be available online starting March 2. Participants are encouraged to sign up early, as the event has sold out within a couple days of opening. Visit yukonmarathon.com for race details and registration information.
